The food was average, but it lacked authentic Mexican flavors and presentation. This restaurant is popular among tourists.
My partner and I dined at this restaurant for lunch a few times and tried the Mexican rice wrap with tofu as well as the tofu banh mi. Both dishes were delicious and reasonably priced. We also noticed they offer a vegan pizza without cheese, although we did not sample it. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.
I initially had high expectations for El Centro. The menu had clearly marked vegan options and the staff were helpful and welcoming. However, the food was very disappointing. The tofu tempeh satay was especially disappointing, though the burritos were slightly better. The chili had a nice taste, but I didn't understand why it was served with a mountain of strange fried pastry squares instead of rice. Overall, I wouldn't rush back to this restaurant. The quality of the food was just not up to par.
The lunch deal offers a delicious fresh tofu banh mi for only RM 15. There are plenty of vegetable options on the menu that can be made vegan-friendly.
The restaurant now offers a new menu with vegetarian and vegan options. They have relocated to a stunning new location. The kitchen staff is well-versed in vegan and gluten-free choices and are attentive to individual needs. The drinks are excellent, and the pub quiz on Wednesdays and weekends are a blast. Highly recommend trying this place out. The owners also offer a charming Airbnb accommodation.
