Only to set expectations: they should come here for the atmosphere, location and the extensive menu, not if they are looking for cheap food. it is a beautifully designed oasis, not a Thai food dish. the portions are very generous and contain high-quality ingredients. ... the restaurant that is connected to some of the coolest accommodations on the island is one must be for anyone who wants to be in the south. if they want a curse from the chaos of the world (or even from haad rin), this is the ultimate. even the walk over the mountain of haad yuan adds to the feeling of being at another place, completely isolated and untouched. make sure to hike the resort. it is masterly built and nothing seems out of place. the restaurant itself is big and beautiful. right on the beach they get the perfect brise, like bonobo and thievery corporation put the mood. the staff seems like the happiest people at all and it shows in service. the menu is similar to many places in Thailand, where they do a little of everything, and it just seems up and down, side by side, but that is where similarity ends. the difference here is that it not only made the same witness that they see everywhere, or a similar dish with various combinations of ingredients. apart from the Thai mainstays (which make them very good. the massaman is some of the best,) they have so many delicious and culturally encompassing options. from the dahl, to the hummus wrap, huge miso soup, hearty breakfest, an infinite number of drinks and smoothies, a gigantic dessert case and even a customized menu for those who make a detox/breakfast in the resort, it is like nothing we have seen somewhere else. I'm pretty sure they can't find the menu online because it's part of the experience I think I've made my point. just go if you have the option. you will not regret it.
I have read mixed reviews about the restaurant and accommodation of the sanctuary. it's expensive for Thai, but in my opinion it's worth a contract. the employees are more knowledgeable than most in Thailand/Ko phangan, they speak excellent English and are trained to ask their names when ordering individually. it's a nice note. I had two meals here. the Veggie/Lentil burger was disappointing; dry and a little tasteless. I also had a masaman (kartato) curry that was one of the best Thai funds I ever had. it was very rich, so without doubt not the healthiest, but soou tasty. the location is stunning, but they have to get a taxi boat and hike up the hill to come here. they also have the cheaper bamboo restaurant close. treat them. make sure they go for Thai food.
The sacredness is one of my favorite places on earth and its food is undoubtedly some of the most tasty and freshest vegan food I enjoyed. they offer two menus- one is mainly vegetarian with seafood options, the other is their clean and detox menu, which offers a large selection of raw, vegan cuisine with products such as raw veggie burger, nori rolling, falafels, raw suppening, curries and fresh delicious salads. they offer raw and vegan breakfasts, including chia seed pudding and raw granola with cashew milk. the employees are amazing and always ready to help with diet requirements. the lookout is the best and the friendly, quirky vibe always makes a positive experience. the dessert cabinet now has an extensive representation of raw vegan cakes, happy balls and discs and their updated beverage menu has new green smoothies and superfood smoothies! the menu is a little priced than other places in Thailand, but the quality, portioning, ingredients and atmosphere, plus the logistics of being in a remote bay on a remote island, surely justifying the easy mark. all in all the sanctuary is one when they are in Thailand!
The atmosphere is tranquil, the food was good albeit overpriced (for Thailand). The service was lackluster; the staff are friendly, but often unhelpful. You're left chasing them for menus and to place orders. I was disappointed with detox/cleansing programs there, which are expensive (relative to comparable programs on the islands), especially because the staff were uninformed and unable to answer basic questions. However, the Sanctuary's general facilities, are lovely and the beach is clean, quaint and serene.
