Spitz Im - Köln

We had some real nice German dishes here. A bit more refined than what you normally get. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. A bit funny with the wine for a restaurant. We were with a small group and found out after the first 2 bottles of red wine, they did not have any more of that wine ... So we switched to another red wine. the waiter checked and informed us that they had 4 bottles of that wine. I guess my wine cellar is larger then theirs :-)

My wife was not so keen for German cuisine, therefore we tried that address; friendly staff, I personally enjoyed the "gesier salad" and the "kidneys", my sons enjoyed their bavette and other dishes.The dessert are average, and we were not impressed by the wine, but the experience was satisfying.

Packed with long tables and lots of guests the first impression when entering is that one is entering uninvited a private party. The steak I ordered should have been cooked rate. In spite that he waiter explicitly explained that steaks are only cooked rare by default mine was served medium to well done. My complaint was fully ignored. The rest of the food was served and tasted as expected. A bit over priced hence 3 stars.

Both our meals had good flavour and came out in good time. My fish may have been a bit over cooked. My partner really enjoyed his meal. The staff were really nice and made it easy for us to order - they had English menus which was helpful!

Just like the Hopper hotel, where it's located, this restaurant is low-key, but very elegant. The dishes are delicious and a bit sophisticated, the service is great.
