Geerlisburg - Kloten

Since many year, this restaurant is kind of a landmark of the region and it went through its share of changes over time. I do know the place since the early eighties. Recently my wife and I decided to enjoy an early summer evening in the garden of the Geerlisburg, having a light dinner and a nice bottle of wine. The place looks still the same as it did some 30 years ago and the view on a clear spring day towards the Swiss Alps is still marvelous. But this comes at a price: we were utterly amazed to find out that a simple local dish like geschnetzeltes roesti would set us back some 42 Swiss Francs! The prices for most of the other items on the menu were in the same region. I mean: this is a simple garden restaurant, not a posh venue somewhere in the middle of Zuerich! Not surprisingly, the prices on the winelist could happily compete with the ones on the menu. Well, we bit the bullet and each of us ordered one of the Asparagus dishes, telling ourselves that the high price would be justified by the vista. This of course only works on a fine day with clear skies... Oh by the way: the food was nice!

Super accommodating staff very friendly competent. The gentleman always came to the table in a good mood and with a smile I really appreciate that. The view is unique in the region and the food was great too. We enjoyed it very much. Best regards Kamm Solutions GmbH
