It has amazing views over the city and surrounding mountains, especially at sunset. Music is playing in the background, you dine by candle light, and they have patio umbrellas so you are covered in case of any sprinkles. Service was professional, friendly, and helpful. As we didn't speak any German they very helpful in explaining the menu options. The first night we started with tomato soup which was ok. I had the Pork chops with bacon and mushroom gravy which was excellent and my wife had the cheese pasta dish which she wasn't that crazy about. Both nights we had access to the salad bar which had different options each night and was very good. On the second night we had the cream of celery soup which was better than the tomato soup and we both had the pork which came out on a cutting board still on the bone and a knife sticking out of it. It was great although a challenge to cut up. For desert we had an apple pastry which was full of cinnamon and the second night we had a cup of pudding with berries and cream which was great. We washed everything down with cold beer at 3.40 euro each. There is also plenty of parking and there was a play area on the side for kids. The restaurant sits up above these areas and is very romantic. We would highly recommend.
We eat here often and the service and food are always impeccable. Chef Jurgen Krupschack uses best quality locally produced ingredients to create wonderful classic Austrian dishes with a modern flair. Highly recommended are any of the soups, particularly the pumpkin. Service is fast, friendly and efficient, and the wine list is impressive. The view from the terrace is beautiful in the summer, and gasthaus-cozy in the winter. Give this one a try for lunch or dinner, and you'll want to come back..
You need to get an outside table on a pretty day. The vies is amazing. The Riesling was good, the mushroom-filled noodles (like ravioli) were filled with "fillers", like potatoes, breadcrumbs..., , no mushroom taste, the waiter was arrogant and impatient (we watched him roll his eyes at the guests a few tables down when they asked simple, legitimate questions). This place has seen better days re food and service!
This used to be a favorite of mine until it went downhill last year, I had hoped it might recover but has not. Noodles stuffed with mushrooms were instead stuffed with breadcrumbs, waitress smirked when people at other tables asked questions and the head waiter was very arrogant and impolite. I think they changed owners, cook and staff, a pity!
My cousin took me to this well known local favourite. Friendly service, great view and the schnapps was nice. The walk in the park is great and if with a family make sure you go to the playground down the hill!
