Small buffet but very good quality with chicken, lamb and veggies offered. Best value for $11.99 in tri cities. We will be coming back monthly with our group of 15.
For the second time in less than a week they managed to not properly write down our address. The first time we waiting over 90 mins for our meal and when the driver finally arrived, it was lukewarm at best. Super disappointing. Call us gluttons for punishment but we tried again 5 days later. I explained what happened when I called in our order. Repeated our address SEVERAL times. Asked the person who took the order to repeat it back and even provided a major intersection for reference. Imagine our surprise when we get a call from a driver who was once again at the same wrong street! I told to driver who was probably a good 20 mins in the wrong direction to keep the order. When I called the restaurant to complain - a gentleman apologized and said he'd give us 15% off our NEXT order! Give me a break! So we're supposed to once again pay over $50 for food that is lukewarm long after waiting and get 15% off our NEXT order. The meal should have been complimentary after screwing up twice in 5 days in an effort to retain a customer. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. There will not be a third time.
Nice new restaurant. They seem to make everything fresh and when you go for the buffet naan is served hot, straight from the griddle to your table. We just went for saturday afternoon snacks twice (fish pakora's and paneer pakora's with chai and mango lassi for the kid) but will definitely attack that buffet next time. It all looked tasty and authentic :-) Last time we took some take-out for dinner later at home and that was very nice too. Worth a try since we have very few authentic north Indian restaurants in KW!
With the majority of Kitchener-Waterloo's East Indian restaurants located on the west side of Hwy 85, it's encouraging to finally see one in northeast Kitchener! Located in a small plaza at the corner of River Road E and Bloomingdale Road N, Taj Rasoi (Indian for Crown Kitchen) is a new restaurant that just recently opened in Dec 2016.The owners have done a good job of creating a nice East Indian atmosphere with their decor. In my opinion, this would be helped even more by playing some good Bollywood movies on the overhead television rather than the US or Canadian programs that were playing while we were there. When it comes to eats, you have a choice of menu items or the buffet. Main menu dishes run from $9.99 to $12.99. A good deal if you have a hankering for a particular plate like butter chicken or goat curry. However, if you prefer to munch on a variety of offerings rather than just sticking to one item, the all-you-can-eat buffet is clearly the better choice. That way you don't have to choose between the butter chicken, the goat curry, the karahi chicken, or the chicken korma; you can just have some of each one! The lunch buffet costs $9.99 and dinner buffet is $11.99. A great deal! And it comes with freshly made naan bread straight from the kitchen. In summary, Taj Rasoi has a nice atmosphere, fast & friendly service, and good food at very reasonable prices. Give them a try!
Nice little family-operated Indian buffet and à la carte restaurant. Genuine, clean and nice food. Very cheap!
