Guanaquita Restaurant - Kitchener

Wanted to try something different, so decided on Salvadorean Guanaquita in Kitchener. We arrived early in the dinner hour and the place was empty. We were greeted by the hostess and led to a large table for the 4 of us.The food was delivered in no time and we had a great time sharing and experiencing different tastes offered. We honestly had no idea what we were ordering. My daughter had been there before, but we were clueless. Not that it is a bad thing. We were happy to be led by the menu descriptions and a bit of help from the server.Lovely meal with honest and (I am told) authentic food from South America, emphasis on Salvadorean.Half way through the meal families started coming in. They were obviously regulars and very comfortable settling in and ordering. That is about as good a recommendation as you can get for a restaurant.

Delicious food and a great value. We all had the guanaquita platter and were impressed with the food. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service was good. Will definitely return!

I really love this place, great food, fair prices, if you've never been get the platter if you have been a few times try something new.. Yuca makes a great app.

This was our second visit at this restaurant and the food was really good the first time so we thought we would treat our family for dinner since they are from out of town and Salvadorian. We walked in and it was easy to see that the restaurant was not full, we were greeted by a server who told us that she could not serve us even though it was 2 hours from close because she was short staff and she hadn't taken orders from other people that had not been served. She basically told us for this reason she would not be able to seat us or serve us this evening. I was really taken back by the level of unprofessionalism shown by this server. Even though the food is good there I likely won't going back... We however end up going to the Latin pupusaria restaurant on the corner of Charles/Eby and they were happy to accommodate us and it was just as amazing as this place and also much cheaper!

This place is my new favourite. Great atmosphere, great staff and to die for flautas. The price is very reasonable and I can't wait until my next dinner at Guanaquita!
