Came to Airlie Arms with friends as were golfing at Blairgowrie and Kirriemuir. Spent 2 nights at the hotel, no complaints whatsoever, we had a great time ,staff were very friendly, 9most welcoming. The food was delicious. Rooms were clean . Will certainly be back and can certainly recommend. X
We stayed here for only one night but were impressed. The hotel is an old hotel with rooms upstairs and more in an annexe around the corner but still part of the building. Our room No.23) was one of the largest rooms we have ever stayed in. There was plenty of space around the two double beds. The toilet was large, too, with a walk-in shower, which was hot. A minor point to note, though, the radiator in the bedroom never heated up all night, which, if broken, would make it a bit chilly through the winter. We had a meal in the bar that night better to book a table as it was very busy all day), which was veg Scotch broth soup and haggis balls followed by fish and chips and steak pie. The Scotch broth tasted nice, as did the haggis balls. The fish was a nice piece of fish. The batter, though, was a bit thick and a tad greasy. The thick cut chips were nice. The steak pie was the usual, stew with pastry. All throughout our visit, the girls working in the bar and reception worked very hard they were polite, prompt and well presented and very helpful. There is no parking at the hotel, there is the Reform carpark 100mts along the road, but it's a short stay pay and display, so check the board for charges and time allowance before leaving your car.
Was away for a night with the hubby and picked here as plenty to do and see in surrounding area. Room was spacious and recently decorated so was clean. The heater didnt work that well, the sink in the bathroom was recently replaced but the wall was damaged behind it and not fixed. The bathroom was clean and the shower was piping hot. Tea coffee hot choc available with biscuits in the room. Had booked an evening meal in the hotel n sorry but this is a bug bear of mine.... its not steak pie if the pastry is cooked separately, its stew and pastry!!!! The gravy had either ale or red wine in it that wasn't on the menu, it was tasty enough and good chunks of meat. Haggis balls to start was good but the i think the pea shoots were an afterthought as a salad. Hubby had veg scotch broth which was good then fish and chips, the fish was quite greasy so he left the batter. I had the trio of cocktails which went down a treat, hubby had cider. No puds on this outing thus time. Overall not too bad for the food and the service was top notch evenvwith it being really busy. Breakfast was cooked to order and cereal toast and fruit available. Cant be too bad as i would go back again.
This review is for a smallish old hotel in a modest sized village. From experience these can be variable but this was one of the best I've stayed in, hence the high rating. Great staff, comfortable good sized room which was clean, quiet and freshly decorated. Best rate booking direct with the hotel. We stayed on a Saturday night (Mmid May) and had dinner in the bar. Food was tasty, well prepared and presented, good value served by friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was the same. Overall, great experience
