Disappointed with the food and certainly expensive for the dinner I had. Service: 3 Location: 5
Went on Sunday 15th october for food drink on a table for 6 at 1515hrs. It is worth noting it was not busy during this time. The roast dinners that we ordered were awful. Dry meats shrivelled veg, the obviously frozen store brought roast potatoes and frozen cauli cheese drowned in water at the bottom of the bowl. No staff checked on us regarding our food or offered to take any further drink orders when our glasses were all empty. As a group we were all hungry and reluctantly ate what we served. The serving staff were below average. In particular, a young, very blunt and rude waitress had such a poor attitude when serving our food we did not want any further involvement with her. As a group towards the end we decided not to order any drinks and also to go elsewhere for dessert. This might sound very negative but I personally think it's this location offering very poor service food . The Yews in Great Glen is the same chain and they are in a different league. Have visited The Castle in Kirby Muxloe twice, both for roast dinners. First visit the roast dinner was disappointing, but thought it was an off day, so decided to visit again with friends on Sunday 15th October 2023. The pictures I took speaks for itself. The vegetarian roast dinner was one of the worst roast dinners I have ever had and paid £14.79 for the privilege. The roast potato's I am convinced were frozen and tasted very simlair to Aunt Bessie's, no crunch or flavour to them. The stuffing as you can see on the picture, was the smallest stuffing I have ever had on a roast dinner and an laughable. The vegetables were described as maple roasted, they tasted just boiled and plain. Parsnips were shriveled up and the vegetable Wellington was boiling hot and appeared just to have been nuked in the microwave. I asked if it came with a Yorkshire pudding to which staff confirmed it did. When it arrived there was no Yorkshire pudding or gravy so had to ask for them. The service was truly terrible, the young lady that served us the food must have been having a bad day. She made us feel like we were an inconvenience asking for the gravy and Yorkshire pudding and was nit friendly at all. Also my wife got served her food as a starter and not a main course, however that was rectified without an issue. No one asked at any point during our meal if everything was okay, as if they did we would have raised the above points. Also no one asked during the meal if we wanted any drinks and the place was not that busy. We all ate most of the food as we hadn't eaten all day due to knowing were going out, however was such a disappointing meal. Also see attached the paltry small portion of fries we got which cost an eztra £3.49. People in the party also ordered cauliflower cheese, which was watery and barely any cheese on it. We all agreed it was one of the worst roast dinners we've ever had! There is no excuse for this and you can see the sorry excuse of the roast dinner on the picture I took of it. Avoid! Service: 1
Went for a meal with friends who had had a fair meal previously and were wary. This time it was great. The service and good were first class. Thank you Service: 5 Location: 5
