Fabulous seafood, boiled to perfection. we had natural oysters, steam clams for the starter, followed by lemon sole and monkfish
From st andrews traveled to stonehaven and tolbooth did not fail us. fish and seafood
Dinner for two entree, amuse bouche, starter, haupt and 1 dessert, plus 2 bottles of wine, all for about £130. very attentive and friendly service from the staff all night. all the dishes were fabulous good aromen subtlely spiced and artistically presented. the cook knows what he wants to achieve and brings out the best in his ingredients. all fish are caught freshly and locally fished so that the menu will undoubtedly change frequently. there were three specials and then a selection of 3 4 start, netzen and desserts. a lot! the restaurant is located in the first floor of a picturesque building at the harbour (outside stone steps, note) but unfortunately the windows are too small for the guests to enjoy the view. we were there on Wednesday night and all the tables were booked so that I think reservations are a must to avoid disappointment. highly recommended!
A lot crammed into a small space and seems to be first developed in the 60s or 70s. Costa, Smiths, burger King and Greggs in a box outside. Toilets are clean. BP fuel fairly priced.
