I will soon book for our wedding celebration and know that we will get what we expect from the vine. a great thank you for an unforgettable evening.
The Vine is a lovely little pub/restaurant with a cosy, rustic feel décor to match. First thing I noticed at how busy the pub was and they seemed shorted staff which didn’t really impress me. The initial wait for drinks was quite long and for subsequent drinks orders as the staff weren’t particularly attentive and didn’t seem to care, possibly due to the busyness of the restaurant. Once seated, our waiter came over to take our drinks order. The drinks were on our table shortly after. This was great until we noticed the change in service once other members of our party had arrived. We had to call a member of staff over to allow us to order more drinks. The wait for food was over 30 minutes, however it was presently lovely with the rustic theme running through into the meals and the dining set. This was a beautiful touch. The lasagne was homely and filling, served piping hot and full of flavour. I wouldn’t say it was any different to something which is cooked at home by myself, however it was delicious non the less. The garlic bread which was served with this dish however was quite disappointing – as it very doughy and didn’t have much taste. I would have preferred traditional crunchy garlic bread. My friend ordered the prime beef burger with fries and it was delicious; The fries were perfectly cooked and the burger was also exquisite; Especially the burger relish sauce which quite reminded me of McDonald’s big mac sauce which everyone knows is good! The main meal certainly filled the gap and the portion was a good size for the price and the flavour as aforementioned was brilliant. We also ordered a pizza and I noticed other diners were given pizza cutters and I only had my fork and knife to cut my pizza, which was a struggle at times. The pizza was cooked to perfection, even though we did ask for extra cheese it was a standard measure of toppings. . You could tell the pizza was freshly cooked. The toilets were clean, compact, and meeting the basic needs. Plates and empty drinks were cleared so the table remained without unnecessary empties throughout the evening which was very good service, however when asking for the bill it appears neither the waitress nor management could understand the different between a gift card and voucher code. This made dealing with the bill quite awkward and would be something I recommend training on. The food was great! However the service didn’t quite match that quality of the food, I would still recommend however as I’m sure it was a one off. Overall it was a 7/10
Had dinner with friends on Saturday night. Nice food, nice staff. Portions were perhaps a little small for the price. NB: there was no actual bar area, well this Saturday anyway. It was all tables for food. Might be worth checking if you did just want a beer
So grateful they managed to squeeze us in for the EOHO last minute on Bank Hol Monday when everywhere else was full! We ordered Lamb Shank (Lovely! I even ordered some bread to dip the last bit of gravy in from the specials menu and a Veggie Burger. We both gobbled it down and said we could have eaten it again. We both had pudding the apple and blackberry crumble and custard. Unfortunately, we both weren’t keen on the large, chunky bits of fruit, but that’s personal preference! We prefer a higher crumble to fruit ratio. Josh, who served us, was a delight! Super helpful, friendly and personable. Was also served briefly by another friendly girl (young, blonde, smiley) who made our meal fab. It was our first visit to The Vine. Would visit again!
Visited for a long awaited family meal to welcome our new Granddaughter, wish we hadn’t bothered. The entire meal was barely warm, potatoes undercooked, ample gravy was a very small gravy boat.I didn’t complain, not wishing to cause upset to my family, however on reflection perhaps I should have as after reading previous reviews those who did received refunds. I will not be repeating this extremely disappointing experience and strongly recommend others to seek alternative eateries. It will be interesting to see if I get a response from the management.A thoroughly unpleasant experience and one that certainly tarnished our family get together.
