I had a burg with a GF bun and salad, it was a great burger. I thought it would be bigger by the description but it wasn't.The service was slow at first; we waited what seemed quite a while for something to drink and also the server was a bit slow to return in general. it was not busy.GF aware- great! A little slow to get drink and food- just ok. price- ok. It has garage doors so that it is open to the street, that was very enjoyable. We will return. No GF problems.
The dinner salad was better than the burger and the side of poutine, but there sure was a lot of choices, so maybe I just picked the wrong thing. The waiter could not have been nicer, and we enjoyed ourselves. I was very hungry and left satisfied.
We stopped here on a Friday night and were able to get patio seating which was nice. The staff were very attentive. The food was great, huge portions and the drinks were great. Would go back for sure.
My husband and I wanted to enjoy a Friday night on a patio and have a burger. Thought we'd give The Works a try. After waiting quite a while to be seated I asked a waitress if we could help ourselves to a table outside. There were tables available outside as well as inside (the place was half empty inside). She said she'd check with the hostess. We could see her talking with another woman behind the take out counter and huffing like it was an imposition. After a while she came to tell us to continue to wait while the kitchen "had a chance to catch up with the orders". No offer to seat us. We waited for a while then decided to leave. We went to Copper Penny instead. Staff was friendly and burgers and fries were fantastic.
After standing in the sun for four hours, our family of four stopped in a The Works for some shakes and burgers. There was no wait and we were able to get seats right at the windows open onto Princess St. Our server was friendly and cheerful. The food was excellent. I would normally give a five rating an experience like this, the only negative point is the high price and the up sell selling. For instance I thought I would try the Elk burger, and even though I could not find the price, and (I didn't ask), I was surprised at the extra $4.00 charge. In the our bill for our family was 80.00, but it was worth it. Great experience.
