You generally take pot luck when it comes to motel type kitchens, even those reputed to be the best in town. This restaurant is part of the Burke Wills Motor Inn, fronting Kingaroy Street, with discreet table candles , draped curtains and high, vaulted ceiling offering respite from the heat and cooling air conditioning. The atmosphere, despite it 's being an obviously upmarket locale, was decidedly downbeat because the lighting was kept so low. However, the4 service was excellent, with the front of house person obviously knowing her stuff. We started off with a delicious garlic bread $6.50) all four crispy slices of it laden with garlic butter that my radiation therapy denied me the pleasure of savouring. However, the taste was sensational! And was followed up, in my case, with a superb chicken penne $28.00): the pasta was exactly right and the cream sauce was to die for while the chicken pieces were plentiful and moist. My partner 's rack of lamb $31.00) was excellent value for money. The meal was complemented by a delicate and oh so flavourful Secret Stone Chardonnay at a really good price $26.00). No wonder this restaurant is so popular: we 'll happily return!
The food was good, but quite pricey for what you got. Service was good and friendly. Not a great selection
Good experience for our first time, nice meal selection and staff were nice and friendly, drinks are priced reasonable but main meal slightly higher than expected
As motel guests we decided to eat at the restaurant. Quite nice overpriced meals. We ordered the atlantic salmon with mashed potato and vegetables and the tuscan chicken breast with sweet potato chips and vegetables. The salmon and the chicken were tasty and cooked well. Most disappointing was the seasonal vegetables, not all seasonal and basically tasteless and lacking imagination. The wait staff were excellent. The biggest disappointment is that the restaurant is not disabled friendly with quite a high step to negotiate to enter and exit the building.
