Served drinks right away and shortly after the food arrived. Excellent food, excellent service. I would highly recommend arriving around 5:30 to 6:00pm as our server did say it can get pretty busy.
Incredible. Absolutely Incredible. Spent the past week driving around Ireland and had two days in Killarney...ate at The Laurels both nights we stayed in town. The first night there my boyfriend and I were exhausted and starving after a long day trekking up and down the Cliffs of Moher. We stumbled in desperate for food and oh my were we BLOWN AWAY. I started with the seafood chowder and I could cry right now thinking about how incredible this stew was. I was craving soup all day and my oh my I was sent right to heaven. My boyfriend had the broccoli and potato (I believe that was the soup of the day , which was very good. I also ordered a Smithwicks beer to go along with my food perfectly chilled and hit the spot : I then ordered the fish and chips... Now, I was simply expecting a normal entree but WOW, even the presentation alone was impeccable. My boyfriend ordered the lamb shank and while I don't eat meat, he said the lamb was tender and falling off the bone and the entire meal warmed his heart. The second night we went I just had a bowl of the seafood chowder because I wasn't as hungry but I made up for it with A LOT of beer. A LOT. The service is exactly as you would expect in a local Irish pub friendly, welcoming and fun. We enjoyed being there so much both nights and wish we could have ate there every night of our trip. If you are in the area PLEASE stop by The Laurels for a bite or a drink or just to chat. I can't wait to visit again...
This place was recommended by our driver and our Airbnb host. We were a large party of 7 that they seated in the back at two round tables together, which made conversation kind of awkward. Plus it has kind of a sports bar feel to it, which we didn't love. But we were seated quickly which was good and the server was friendly. The food was a couple of hits and a couple of misses. My burger, W's lamb shank, and the fish and chips were good. Mom J got the Irish stew which was bland and kind of watery. I traded with J so she could have my burger and tried the stew myself, but it just wasn't fantastic. Maybe it was an off night? Overall, I wouldn't highly recommend, but it's got some good options on the menu.
This is a fun little spot if you're in Killarney. The staff is very nice and the food is very good. I had the Lamb Shank and it was wonderful. They were quick on the drinks and made you feel like a local. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review was because my man wrote down our food order and never turned it in. So we sat there an hour before he realized it. I will say, once they got it in the food came out fast and again was excellent. So don't let the 4 star run you off, it's worth giving them a shot.
Had dinner here before heading out for live music. Smallish bar area but plenty of seating in other sections. Friendly staff and great service. Our group had a lamb shank and a pizza. Lamb was very tender and tasty, one of the better meals I've had in the past week. Pizza was good size but taste was average at best. For a casual meal in town with great service, I would make a stop in here.
