Food was good, not outstanding in my opinion but good. Restaurant was clean , tables spaced nicely and set with cloth table cloths and napkins. The environment could have been charming if it was in good repair and more organized. When you enter the front door you are greeted with a junk room to the left and a beautiful carved Victorian stair case just ahead of you. The staircase had seen better days and there was a very visable hole in the ceiling at the top of the stairs. The dining area where we were seated had holes in the ceiling and BLACK MOLD, coming through the paint where there most likely is an ongoing leak. (SEE PICS) Made me wonder what the kitchen looked like?Options for dine in restaurants in Keyser are limited and I am sure Covid has impacted their business. They may not have the income to properly maintain this historic property.Seems like a bit of organizing in the entry way and some paint and caulk could go a long way in fixing up the destractions that make for a less then ideal dining experience.Their deserts were amazing and definitely worth coming back again for. Maybe carryout next time.
The candlewyck inn is a really cool restaurant in keyser, which claims it was farm too table before farm too table was cool. another main staircase of keyser is the candlewyck inn. fred and sharon engle, along with their children, cole and anna, have made the candlewyck 31 years long with American farewell and wyckedly good cupcakes to a stack. fred and sharon know how to keep traditions, but they are always looking for innovations and bring new tastes and ideas to keyser. they began recently in the evening with “Gastkoch” and hospited renowned chefs for eating at the weekend. the engles keep the tradition of warners restaurant “Beesting” cake alive...read more
We eat there often... have never eaten anything here that I didn't like...we have experienced the atmosphere of the newly renovated dining room ..it's nice.... one of our favorites is the cream of the crab soup.. Sunday evening on the Valentine menu was braided Duck Breast... I never eaten duck.so that's what I got... it was delicious. I would recommend to everyone to dinate on Candlewyck
There is nothing better than to lure into this picturesque, beautiful restaurant and stroll into the Dessert case where the eyes take everything delish is. I took a 1/2 dozen of freshly baked cupcakes and a slice of the best Lemon Berry Marscapone Cake I've ever tasted in my life. I recommend Candlewyck for brunch, lunch, dinner... and please, oh please save space for dessert. So it's worth it.
