We enjoyed outdoor seating October in the sunshine eating a marvelous steak and a crispy salat. The ambiance is relaxed, we realy felt being more than welcome. Kevelaer is a tourist place and pilgrimage but also many locals know to find this restaurant....We will come back for sure, within a few weeks they will serve their famous game dishes which we tried last year too. A very good place for quality local food lovers
Walked in and several staff came to greet me and offered up indoor and outdoor seating options. Thought this is great. As I was seated the original waitress was friendly offered up several pre dinner drink options. I chose the weizen radler...as always. The meal...order return from a separate waitress was almost minutes. Upon ordering they have several dry aged beef options various cuts along with burger choice with or without cheese. I opted for the schnitzel, but asked to modify with a chicken breast and was told no. I explained I didn’t eat port and the veal option was offered which is a young cut of beef, chose the option available as no other option was. Asked to substitute the traditional fried variant for the rahm mushroom gravy and they brought it on the side and was more mushrooms than gravy. The schnitzel was falling out of the breading, but tasted delicious. I’ve been here almost an hour and have yet to be checked on or offered another beer. Fries are fat, short unseasoned steak fries. The lemon for the schnitzel is dried out, obviously used all day or sat out as a last resort. Great feel with the decor and meal options, but disappointed at the customer service and final presentation. Definitely won’t be back
While staying Kevelaer we could not fail to revisit the Alt Derp. Once again a cheerful friendly visit, excellent food from a wide menu and quality drinks. We will certainly visit next time we're in the area
It's a cosy, middle sized restaurantcafé with a lovely atmosphere, where locals gather around Stehtische or have taken position on a long bar. There's a more or less separate restaurant area, but you can have your meal in the central room on rustic furniture..personally, I...liked it here more. The service is excellent and the steaks are to die for: dryaged Argentinian beef, to be served in different sizes: small for the ladies and big for the hungry man. Definitely worth a visit for instance, from a returnflight to Weeze Airport.
