Concourse Cafe - KENT TOWN

My wife and had an enjoyable lunch at the place, which is part of the national wine centre of Australia. We had a platter and a piadina. Tasty food, very reasonably priced wines by the glass. You can either eat inside or outside, with views of the botanical gardens. Good service. Recommended.

Lunch at the Concourse Cafe after visiting the wine centre seemed like a good idea and we both chose the steak, ordering it medium-rare. The waitress seemed surprised at our order, saying not many people ordered steak on the weekend and checked that we had the correct menue for the weekend. Despite there being so few people in the cafe, it took absolutely ages for the meals to come and then they were overcooked! The menu said the dish came with onion rings, but only one arrived with each meal, artistically balanced on top of the dish. They'd clearly gone to so much effort to fire up the deep fryer to cook them, it seemed quite mean not to cook more! The wine list, as you'd expect, had some interesting wines, but only a few by the glass - I'd hoped that a National Wine Centre would have a wider range by the glass. So all in all, not that great an experience.

The National Wine Center in Adelaide has a shop and an adjacent cafe, serving wine, coffee and light meals.When I went there with a friend, we ordered a coffee... then waited... and waited... about 30 minutes. So did the patrons at the other tables. It was apparent that looking after customers did not seem to be a high priority of the management of this establishment. My observation was that it was understaffed.My recommendation: go somewhere else- maybe Chianti Classico in Hutt Street.
