The prices are a bit high for the quality of food, but it is still better than other options in town. Some dishes are excellent, while others are just average pub food. The burgers are especially delicious, but you might want to skip the caesar salad.
I absolutely adore the salads at this restaurant! They are always delicious, and my favorite is the warm wrapped jalapeño cornbread. The restaurant is clean and spacious, with a patio overlooking the water that is perfect for a relaxing dining experience in the summer. The service can be a bit slow at times, but the staff is always friendly. Overall, it's a great spot for lunch or dinner.
Out of the four of us, I was the only one who was not completely satisfied with my meal. I ordered the crepes, but found the cheese to be overpowering and the chunks of chicken too big. A milder cheese or smaller pieces of chicken would have made for a better dish. However, when I reheated it with some mild onions the next day, it was much more enjoyable. We also tried the poutine, which was good but tasted like it had a chicken-based gravy. My husband enjoyed the special, a roast beef wrap, and my daughter loved her salad. My son had fish and chips, which was the standout item of the meal for me. I would recommend this restaurant for groups of up to about 8 or 10 people, as larger groups may be spread out between rooms or booths. Overall, I would return to this restaurant and recommend it as a great spot in the Kemptville area.
Took my Mom to Salamanders for lunch today and it totally exceeded my expectations. I had made reservations for a table for 2 and was running about 45 minutes late from a prior appointment, so called and explained my situation and they totally accommodated us...by keeping our table. The patio was very clean and tables adequately spaced for distancing. The food was fresh, tastefully presented and delicious!! The service was very attentive and friendly. We never felt rushed and savored our time and every tasty bite of our lunch. It was a truly enjoyable culinary experience!! P.S. Don't leave without having one of their made from scratch amazing desserts. I would highly recommend Salamanders to anyone....Enjoy!
Disappointed in keeping servers / more faithful that we insult by getting among those who arrived without a reservation for terrace (we were called these people, but nevertheless we were sitting inside but not given so much as a menu. after a considerable time pass and because we felt that we were ignored, we did not only leave this experience with this particular server, which seems to carry their tasks congruently. Eat is good and terrace eating in free pleasant, but no ware is exclusive for this restaurant so that after a series of visits in the run of the years we will give this from now on.
