Baxter Mountain Tavern - Keene

The transformation is remarkable! Initially, it appeared to be just another typical pub serving ordinary food with limited vegan options. However, we were pleasantly surprised to find a variety of delectable choices, making it difficult to decide what to order.

Whenever we visit the Lake Placid area, we never miss the chance to dine at Baxter Mountain Tavern. With a variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes on the menu, a selection of delicious beers on tap, and excellent service, it's always a fantastic experience. The cozy, rustic feel of the restaurant and the stunning mountain views only add to its charm — it's a true hidden gem just waiting to be discovered.

I was grateful to find so many vegan options in this area, especially after hiking Mount Marcy and feeling exhausted. I don't mind that the restaurant isn't completely vegan.

No, the place isn’t vegan (which is why I can’t give it more than three stars , but they at least make an attempt, which is more than you can logically ask for in the northern Adirondacks. We had the double Beyond Burger (twice as good as one Beyond Burger! and the black bean burger, along with a few sides of veggies that weren’t ruined with butter. Sadly, we didn’t get to try the vegan curry; next time! To wrap up: Good food, very good service and truly great beer. Again, a worthy ADK spot!

From outside, they expect nothing other than standard pub food with an salad option for vegans. it turned out to be a hard decision to make with several tasty options.
