Kearney Trailside Cookhouse

We ordered chicken strips and chips. Chips were great, but chicken strips were frozen strips semi fried.

Always quick, always delicious!!! My son (in the pic) was home from Valcartier. If the Cookhouse can feed him (a corporal in the CAF)they can feed anyone. Come out and enjoy what they have to offer, dessert included. All delicious and always timely!!

I am celiac, which makes me used to not being able to eat at many places. However when we do stop I make a habit to ask if the place has a separate fryer for their fries... not expecting it, but some places do, which allows me to indulge in a treat. Most places that don't typically respond "no, sorry" and I can go on my happy way. However when we stopped here I received a rude response which basically hinted that people make up allergies, and that any place that tells you they have a separate fryer are liars. Unfortunately a kind "no, sorry" would have gone a much longer way in keeping our families business. I don't expect all small businesses to be fully allergy friendly as it does incur the business extra cost, but I do expect a respectful response. So I wanted to share that this place is by no means allergy friendly. So if you have any type of allergy I would recommend steering clear. If your fortunate to be good allergy free I have heard ok things.

Everything is good. Great little spot for a quick pit stop on the way to the cottage or when you just don't feel like cooking. They have every BBQ sauce and topping you can think of. Great service and great people.

Bring cash ,,, atm costs 3 bucks per trans at the store down the street. food was nd burgers and dogs and fries as per the usual .. loads of toppings like maybe 101 and counting !! to choose from , food is hot and fresh but the burger meat was a bit underdone for my liking , i like em just cooked not rare , The fish and chips were nice and looked great with coleslaw and homemade tartar . nice happy lady to take the orders , told us to sit in our cars cus the bugs were bad and she would signal us when the food was ready ,, yup she was right ,, the moment we stopped moving , swarmed . but that is bug season up there !! glad this was open when we got there after 8 hour drive and had no shopping done ! thanks
