The place is always busy first thing in the morning for breakfast.Next time on your way through Bethany, order a pizza. You wont be disappointed!
I know at my age I should not be eating butter tarts, but last week I was passing thru Little Britain and my wife and I stopped for a butter tart. When we got inside they were making sandwiches on any sort of fresh bun you can imagine. I had ham cheese lettuce and tomato. That ham was piles more than two inches high. The butter tart was like liquid gold in a great pastry shell. Even though it was one o'clock there was a constant line of folks coming in. Do not pass this place up.
I've never come here for a proper meal, but boy have I come back over and over again for the deserts, They have all sorts of delicious snacks ranging from buttertarts and custard tarts to amazing brownies and of course my all time favorite, date squares. Definitely a must stop by en route to the cottage or wherever else you might be going,
Trip Advisor is generally ... OK but I have an excellent picture of my breakfastat Buttertarts 'N More which I am NOT allowed to add to this first review making me unableto "Paint the Picture" on this excellent breakfast.Roadside cafés which I do affectionately call a greasy spoons as I love nothing better than a breakfast at a diner style establishment. The caveat here are Huevos Rancheros oven baked style. But that's a south west story.I depend on the parking lot rule when road touring ... if'n it is nice and fullno matter a building appearance we put on the brakes. But remember, truthfully, it is really hard to ruin a breakfast. The competition is tight in the eggs department. So when I recommend a breakfast stop among a vastfield of great venues of early morning delight ... something's hatching.Travelling cross country from Port Perry we were advised to headto Bloomington Road and 404 for 401 West when we passed through Bethanyand the classic full parking lot at a roadside diner.Braking and turning onto the packed lot, the restaurant sign informed us that this roadside establishment were creators and providers of "Ontario's best butter tarts" plus they were open for lunch and dinner.Loaded parking lot with pickups, beaters plus a Land Rover, Element and and Mini ... but with Buttertarts bragging, signs were looking up. I had the Classic Breakfast with poached egg, sausage and home style fries... I requested a sampling of their famous homemade onion rings whichwas provided for me at a very busy time with locals and passersby jostling for a spot, then a clean table and then some service. We were in absolutely no hurry.Even though service was jumping to keep up, the serving staffand kitchen crew were attentive with details and warm with smiles. We walked away with their classic butter tarts and fresh raspberry tarts.Be sure to take a napkin.
First of all, those buttertarts are amazing. They are not cheap but they shouldn't be for the taste of paradise on earth.I frequent the Bethany location which is an good restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is quite popular. The food service can be average to slow for such a restaurant because they can be very busy. The staff is very friendly and is a joy to see.The french fries are cut fresh every morning and with gravy are probably the best restaurant fries I have ever eaten. Reminds me somewhat of New York Fries with some of the skin still on. Yummy!Prices are just average for any meal so don't expect a greasy spoon bargain but the food is good and the restaurant is very clean.
