The chef Matt has such a creative vision that works incredibly well. After trying the roasted carrots, market toast with bruleed pears, everything deviled eggs, gnocchi, and vegan rice pudding with hibiscus soaked peach (admittedly not Matt's recipe but the best vegan rice pudding I've ever had) I left feeling full and very happy about the quality of taste, and the price wasn't bad either. The market toast changes depending on produce available since everything is sourced locally (all farms are listed on the back of the menu) and is made on their delicious fresh sourdough bread. The carrots were perfectly cooked in my opinion and paired wonderfully with the cheese on the plate. The everything deviled egg really got me though, I wasn't expecting it to be so good! Then there's the gnocchi which is made with ricotta instead of the usual potato. This was phenomenal. It was topped with a pea pesto sauce with pistachios and was both light and filling at the same time. I would have had a hard time finishing the portion size if it was the usual potato, but the ricotta gives it a nice whipped texture and feels less heavy in your stomach. The rice pudding was made by a local pastry chef who was credited on the dessert menu because Matt felt his food was so good he just couldn't rightly have customers assuming credit was due to him. The blend of flavors was surprising and delicious. Honestly one of the best vegan desserts I've ever tasted not just vegan rice puddings. The staff was very friendly and the waiter was attentive but not overly so. All in all I will 100% be coming back and recommending it to my friends and family.
SO good! The drinks before dinner and the sourdough bread served with honey butter definitely set the tone for what the rest of our dinner would be like. My husband and I couldn't decide on which appetizer to split so we ordered two things. The wings (in a pineapple habenero sauce) came out a sweet with a little kick and cooked just right! We also ordered the French Onion Soup with bone marrow. It was served in an entree sized soup bowl and absolutely delicious! My husband got the Shrimp and Chorizo burger and could not stop raving about it. He even told the table next to us that had to try it! I had the classic burger and usually when I ask for anything well done I get an eye roll, but our waiter happily obliged to my request and my burger came out cooked PERFECTLY. It was well done to my liking but still juicy. I've never been presented with a well done burger that wasn't almost hockey puck like. I was in awe. We were too stuffed for dessert but ended the meal with coffee. We will be back and will be bringing friends to enjoy with us!
From the moment you walk in, you are greeted like you’re walking into someone’s home. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Then you order a cocktail and you know the rest of the night is going to be a great experience. I ordered the oysters which were fresh and delicious. But I couldn’t stop at one appetizer. I was curious to try the tots and I was glad I did. Who’d think a combination of tater tots and caviar would be good. Amazing!! For my entree I had the chicken dish. The chicken was moist and flavorful and laid on top of a buttery bed of grits and spinach. Dessert was their take on rice pudding which was floating in delicious peach sauce. To add to this experience, the wait staff was cordial and attentive to your every need. Would I go back? I think the answer is clear and I suggest everyone give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Amazing food, always fresh and delicious. Great atmosphere and the owners and staff are awesome. I find myself always craving their food. So happy that they are there. No one makes Artichoke dip like the Whitlock...its a must have. Just Incredible....
I finally got to enjoy a nice lunch at the Whitlock and I was extremely happy! My husband and I shared the Korean BBQ pork for an appetizer. It was delicious. I had the Bib salad (which I’ve been craving since I left) and my husband had their burger. My son enjoyed some grilled cheese (the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had) and French fries! We look forward to going back in the future to try out and enjoy their brunch menu as well as dinner menu! Highly recommend.
