Thamel Momo Hut - Kathmandu

Located in the bustling tourist area of Thamel, this restaurant serves up a delicious take on traditional momos. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent, however be prepared for a longer than usual wait for your order. It's possible that there was a shortage of kitchen staff on the day of my visit, but the wait time was longer than I have encountered at other dining establishments in Nepal.

This charming restaurant is a hidden gem that may be difficult to locate without local assistance. The menu offers simple yet delicious dishes at affordable prices, making it a great option for tourists. I would gladly return to dine here again.

The restaurant is situated on the first floor and has a balcony, though it is not for seating. The staff was extremely friendly and pleasant. They offer unique flavors that cannot be found anywhere else in the city. While I am happy we tried it, I do not feel the need to return. Overall, the steamed momos were better than the fried ones. The food had good flavor, however, the steamed momos were not as moist as other places in the city.

Cuisine is one of the most authentic ways to connect with a different culture. Every time I am planning a trip, I research the typical flavors, colors, and ingredients of the destination. Through the dishes, you discover many things. In Nepal, there is nothing like savoring Momos, dough dumplings filled with sweet or savory fillings. They can be steamed, baked, or fried. This type of food is easy to find in many restaurants in Nepal, but in some of them, it is their specialty and offers a wide range of different fillings, it is worth a try.

Very friendly staff. Clean dining room. Good crowd of expats and tourists brought in by guides. Food was fast and tasty. Good option if you're in the Thamel area.
