The best thing here is that you totally adjust and customize your pasta according to your own taste. I like watching the chefs cook my pasta and adding my own comments. Reasonably priced and nice staff, too.

I have visited this place three times with different friends - always because they said they loved it and I always, yes: ALWAYS regretted wasting my time there. First some unmotivated person at the reception desk slaps a card on the counter that you have to carry around to click up what you've ordered/eaten/drunk. Then you queue up and wait for an unmotivated 'chef' to whip up whatever you order. If you're in the pizza line then it's a wait and you get a buzzer which tells you when you have to get up from the table and go and get the food from the counter.First time I went the pasta dish was barely tepid by the time I got to my table. I went back to ask for warmer food and the whole dish including cold mozzarella balls and fresh basil leaves was refired in a pan(in front of me eyes) and made the basil go sludgy and the mozzi balls melt. Even then the food was tepid when I got it back to my table. So I went back again and was told that that was normal for that dish. I answered that I wanted 'warm' food from the warm food counter. All I got as an answer was a indifferent shrug .The next visit was a long wait for a pizza that was then undercooked and had a soggy base. What a floppy squidgy mess that was.The third time - I hadn't given up for the sake of the friend - was a complete mess on a plate, half warm pasta, half something else that was undefinably tossed into a cold dish. As much as some people seem to like it: I refuse to go there again.I have paid for bad food that I don't even get served to the table AND I have to stand around and get it myself and watch unmotivated and grimacing staff.Nope. Never again.

The Vapiano concept can be a bit hit and miss , but full marks to the friendly staff in Karlsruhe , super friendly , bilingual, reasonable prices, excellent location , beautiful building , nice in house cafe and deserts , spotlessly clean , Pizzas were excellent as were salads and deserts , if only every other restaurant in kalrsruhe was this good ...

Food is cooked right in front of you and it tastes great! Perfect for going with friends, family or even on a date and isn't too expensive either. Sometimes the waiting times can be a bit on the long side depending on when you go so watch out for the student rush hour.
