Thong La's Restaurant - Kapuskasing

Good food as always. It is pretty pricey though, the service is very good. The restaurant gives you home vibes

I am not from Kapuskasing but we travel often to see family. We ate here once during our travels and I can say I was very happy with the food, the selection and the service but only during the buffet. When you order from the regular menu it's pretty bland. I'd recommend it if you are in the mood for some good Asian cuisine but only when it's buffet style : !

We ate here over the Christmas holidays and had the lunch buffet. From Toronto standards the buffet is small, but from small town standards it was the right size given the volume of the restaurant. The food was turning over and staying fresh the couple of times that we went up to fill our plates. Overall quality of the food was good. A little more spice would have been good, but they are playing to my in-laws who live there rather than my tastes, which makes sense for them.

Where do I begin... My dish was inedible and the service was horrid. We got yelled at by our server because my son wanted to try a corner of my dad 's jello from the buffet (my dad had paid for the buffet and wanted to let my 8 year old try a corner of his paid for jello... she exclaimed if your son puts any of that jello in his mouth, we will charge you for it... like...what? I said ok, charge us for the jello even though my dad had paid for the buffet which included jello. Our whole table couldn 't even believe we were being yelled at for this...we were just shocked. Avoid at all costs, food and service was terrible. Stunned.

The food here is great. You get nice big portions, so you get what you pay for. Some things are a little greasy but every restaurant has a couple dishes like that. The people could be a little nicer and more patient, but other than that the food is amazing. :
