Entering the game the traffic flow is great. Interested in a parking lot party? Bring your own drink before the game! There is a mini sportsplex for children if you need to entertain a little one during the game. unpopular opinion: I think the stadium is lovely and did not see what the need is for a new stadium.
Our first time here, and what better way to celebrate your 1st Anniversary together than at a ball game! Out of all of the MLB stadiums I have been to, this one takes 1st place sorry, Fenway)! They have a great selection of foods and drink as well as ways to keep the crowd entertained and up to the minute updates on each play. The staff is helpful and polite. They even law enforcement there in case they are needed. There are plenty of restrooms and thankfully clean a HUGE thanks to the staff for that). It's pretty cool that the fountains change when someone on the Royals hits a homerun and they even shoot off fireworks, too. Needless to say, we will be looking into season tickets.
Since beginning play in 1969, the Kansas City Royals have done OK. The Royals have made it to four World Series (1980, 1985, 2014, 2015) and won twice (1985, 2015). In terms of all-time winning percentage in the regular season, the Royals are at about the 33rd percentile (top of the bottom third of the league). However, in the postseason, the Royals are knocking on the door of a top-five win percentage which is pretty good. 2013 through 2015 was an amazing stretch for Kansas City. In 2013, the team posted their best record since 1994. In 2014, they reached their first World Series since 1985. And in 2015, they won it all. Current Royals general manager Dayton Moore oversaw this success. Moore came to Kansas City after working over a decade for the Atlanta Braves. Salvador Perez (C), Alex Gordon (OF), and Greg Holland (P) played in both the 2013 and 2014 All-Star Games. Perez and Gordon would return to the All-Star Game in 2015 and be joined by Alcides Escobar (SS), Lorenzo Cain (OF), Mike Moustakas (3B), Wade Davis (P), and Kelvin Herrera (P). Needless to say, the Royals ' 2015 team was star-studded. Cain and Escobar went on to earn ALCS MVP honors in 2014 and 2015, respectively, while Perez was named World Series MVP in 2015. For most of the ballpark 's existence, the Royals have played at Kauffman Stadium. Originally opened in 1973, the K has a seating capacity of 37,903. It 's named after the founder and original owner of the team, Ewing Kauffman. Parking at Kauffman Stadium must be purchased in advance. For more info, visit [hidden link]. A cool and unique feature of the K is its giant water fountain that is 322 feet wide. They call it the Water Spectacular: [hidden link].
We had a great time watching the Royals and Tigers play tonight. Great ballgame and really loved Kauffman Stadium.
This was probable one of the best games and days to attend a Royals game. They were playing against the Baltimore Orioles and won 5-3! The weather was perfect and so was the company.
