Brio Italian Grille Kansas City Country Club Plaza

Brio is a chain, so normally you can count on some similarity between locations. That was not the case on this visit. I am usually a big fan of the calamari at Brio, but this location succeeded in breaking that chain. It wasn't cooked well and was a little chewy. We had to wait quite a bit and the waiter was nice, but messed up a few things, including our checks. This was not an AWFUL visit. The wine and martinis were good, the salads were good, and my friends seemed to mostly enjoy their meals, but it was not the high quality I usually expect from Brio. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was an off night.

The main course was deliscious! the fresh bread was warm but tasteless. the dessert was very little glossy. wait they personal is all super nice, but very little check-in in the service with their waiter for refilling. I would go back, but would not escape in desserts.

The waiter brought the wrong wein on our table and then took 15 min to get the right wein on our table. he wanted to take our order before we even had our drinks! the service was slow. we ordered an salad with our dinner and both came at the same time instead of the salat first. he never asked how we were during the meal. the food was so and not worth the price we paid. it was also very bright in the restaurant. a little darker would have been more environment.

Service was terrible! after sitting, the waiting was a non-show. wait 15 minutes. Finally, host asked if we were assigned to our table. after another 5 minutes the waitress finally appeared. wein came fast. salat and entree also served immediately (from someone except or server...but teller were almost thrown on us). of someone next to our server. server was missing again. never water glasses again. they were empty halfway in the evening. I never asked if we wanted to whisper. never arrived with the jack. wait after 15 minutes after the wine glasses were empty. we finally asked the manager for our check. restaurant seemed worn over all. glasses were water stains. logo was plate was almost rubbed. on a positive note. eating was very good. salate fresh. hot and tasty.

Not a good experience. Made reservations for a special occasion. Slow poor service. Forgotten about most of the evening. Food is good but pricey for what you get. No bartender on duty. Told by server that we could order wine only but she would have to get it and then later that she should “get a good tip”.
