Black Dolphin - Kansas City

This is a lovely place where the bartender may have been a bit slow and the waiting staff a little inattentive, but it's a great spot to relax and enjoy live music away from the hustle and bustle.

We came in from the city looking for some good jazz music. At first, we were unsure about the neighborhood, but soon realized it was bustling with life. We easily found street parking and walked around the corner to the club. Inside, it was dark and all we could see was the band in front of us, which was pretty cool. I'm not sure what the band's name was, but I really enjoyed the piano and bass, which you don't always get with jazz. The place focused on drinks and jazz, with a classic ambiance. We're not big drinkers, but they had a mocktail menu with about 5 options. I loved the peach ginger mocktail, while my mother and sister tried the virgin Mary. The prices were reasonable. We were hoping for appetizers, but felt that it would take away from the club's atmosphere. We also liked how the band members interacted with the audience during their set breaks. The mirrors added a nice touch, allowing us to see the piano player's facial expressions. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely go back. It was a lovely way to spend the evening. Dressy casual attire is appropriate; we felt comfortable in our jeans, as did everyone else.

This restaurant is a beautiful spot to enjoy live jazz music, the performances are top-notch. Tim Whitmer was excellent!

We had not been in awhile and loved the new setup! We did pay $5 per person on a Saturday night, which went to the band! Great time as always!
