Menu was pretty big and so much choice made it hard to decide (which is not a bad thing) Service was prompt and very friendly. Sat inside as the weather looked iffy, but the patio was very inviting. Food came out hot and portions were very generous. If you are in the area I recommend.
This was our third trip to Hurley’s only because Ottawa had been in shutdown and our choices for breakfast were limited. The first two we had been seated outside in a tent so it was not fair to assess the restaurant imo at that time. This time, however, we were inside... First, it isn’t difficult to understand that there are 1,400+ better restaurants in Ottawa. Even that is placing it higher than it rightfully deserves. The wait staff are great very attentive and friendly. Full marks there. I liked the decor but my wife thought it was dirty. Hmmm... On to the food. Breakfasts all around so how difficult could it be? There were an assortment of eggs, meats and toast, with home fries. I didn’t ask the other how things were so in fairness I’ll only speak to mine... First issue, it was not hot. I’d put it at lukewarm. Eggs were done fairly well, bacon about the thinnest rashers I’ve seen, were alright but again on the cool side. Ham slice browned on only one side. Home fries were same, not hot. Toast was just weird. I had to examine it closely to determine which side was buttered and after eating still didn’t know apart from one piece that had a smear of butter about 2X2. The toast was too cool for it to melt so at least that was easier to identify. The rest? No. I have always tried to make allowances for places that were busy or if there was something that would make the cook’s job difficult. I can’t do it in this instance. There were about a dozen people in the restaurant and three waitresses. The problem as best I can determine is in the kitchen, and sadly, was such that I can’t come up with any reasonable excuse. It should have been much better than it was. We won’t return.
Had the chicken wings and took a steak sandwich home for the wife. The wings were excellent as was the sandwich. I've eaten here several times and the food is good quality and I haven't had a bad experience. Only negative is that Wings at Hurley's don't come with fries. For the same price or less in other pubs or specialty wing restaurants, fries are usually included.
It is a decent place for breakfast when you are in the area. It seems that it's a nice place if you are regular here, enjoying watching sports in the evening and sorts. But as we were there as tourists everything seemed a bit rough around the edges.
The wings are great, we usually go on Tuesday nights when they are half price and opt for the sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo, and of course a beer or two to wash them down.
