Brise De Kep Guesthouse - Kampot

Dined here several times during my stay in Kep, usually for brunch and always for Iced Vietnamese coffee. Service could be a bit slow or rather shy about language problems, but more than reasonable.

Location is just right in front of the beach which is good and easy to go to the beach anytime. Recommend for the beach lover. Price of the room reasonable but the material inside is a bit old and broken like the bathroom door lock and the toilet flush. I booked the one bed with seaview and the staff she gave me the double-bed one. I kept requesting for the sea view one but she didn't tell me that it was full. Instead she said there was no Sea view room. Not because of the language barrier. I speak Khmer and I'm Cambodian. Anyway the room came with air-conditioning so there wasn't a big deal. Restaurant on the first floor. You can see the view of the sea and enjoy the breeze. The service is alot slower than any other places I've ever been too. The staff who was in charge of the restaurant want so friendly. There are many dogs here which is good for me to see them because they reminded me of my little puppy. But at midnight or about 3AM in the morning, they barked competing each other. They woke me up. Not recommend if you can't sleep well.

This hotels proves that a hotel can exist for decades without the slightest hint of maintenance. When we arrived we had to fight to get a remote control for the A/C that we had paid for. They tried with some 3-4 remotes from other rooms which did not work either (totally different brands, so no surprise) and moved us to a room where we could turn the A/C on and off, but not adjust the temperature. Nothing in the bathroom worked properly. Low water pressure, no hot water, leaking sink and a constantly dripping faucet made the floor constantly wet and slippery. The room had appearently not been cleaned for ages, big spiderwebs on the lamps and under the bed, and dusty everywhere. (Yes, I know it is a beach hotel and sand will enter, but this was OLD dirt) The mattress was not too bad for sleeping, neither too hard nor too soft, but the linen were stained and we had a feeling they hadn't been changed for a while. In addition to this the bedsheet was far to small, so we found ourselves lying directly on the far from clean mattress when we woke up at night. On the good side food is excellent and the location the best Kep can possibly offer. Nice and service minded staff, generally, but with very limited understanding of foreign languages. We'll probably never return, however, du to the total lack of cleanliness.

The hotel's staff is what was the great thing in this place. The place itself, can be better. We were there for 4 nights. Not even someone came to clean the room or take the garbage. The room was good for the price you pay. ask for a room with a window that does not face the restaurant. The restaurant was really nice, but easy. And the service was really slow.

The food quality varies from good to average depending on the dish and the day you get it. The omelette was delicious, but the green curry was disappointing and the beef stew was decent. They wanted to overload me twice. Beautiful view of the beach during and a good choice for Kep Beach (which is lacking in food options).
