Match Eatery & Public House - Kamloops

The restaurant is pricey for what you get. The atmosphere is lovely, but the high cost left us feeling like it wasn't worth it.

We dined at Match for dinner the other night. We ordered the chicken grilled pizza and the pasta. The chicken on the pizza was barely there. The flavor was extremely spicy and not as described. We had a great burger here the week before, but we cannot recommend the pizza as the one we had was awful. When we mentioned this to our server, she just responded with a disappointed "oh, okay."

We were in Kamloops to fill up on gas at Costco and decided to grab an early lunch at Match Eatery since it was close by. It was quiet on a Sunday morning, with just a few groups in the restaurant. We ordered the Nacho Average Nachos, which were average but had good chips. The Gameday Chicken Wings were also average, while the My Thai Chicken Salad was slightly above average in taste but lacking in chicken. The Reel Deal fish and chips was light and above average thanks to the beer batter used. The service was okay, with a young and somewhat inexperienced server who was friendly. The table felt slightly sticky, but our Encore member in the group received a 15% discount which made the meal more affordable. Overall, it was a decent experience with average quality food and service in a convenient location.

Last weekend for dinner, with 3 adults. Had the reservation so easy to get a table on a Friday night. The waiter was new. Well started with fast service. Then the waiter disappeared about 25 minutes after we had placed the food order. Hey. Beverages... were not good. 2 Ceasars were much too spicy and not really pleasant. The wife then had a beer and it tasted. Ask for our food and was said would soon be another 10 minutes later and at least 45 minutes in our food. I had the special rib, it was tender, but overly tasteful, it was OK. She had Cesadias... they were fried deep?? not sure why. They were sharp, but kind of fat. Under average. Wives friend had fish tacos, they were OK, not great. Manager brought out our food, and when I said... only for your information it was tooling over 45 minutes to get our food his comment was to take every 45 minutes to get their food... No excuse. That was our second dinner there in a month and we were not impressed. will not hurry

Had dinner at the Match while playing in the casino and was disappointed in the food, price and service. The dinner was a long time coming and was average at best, not the taste we expected and pricey. Had to wait 20 minutes before we...were given the drinks we ordered when we first sat down and the Eatery was not that busy. Sorry we made the choice and will try elsewhere next time.
