Chilika Dhaba - Kallikota

This dhaba used to be well-known for its delicious crab, prawn, and seafood dishes in the past. However, nowadays it has lost its standards. The place is very unclean and they overcharge customers. The waiters are also dishonest.

The restaurant resembles a typical roadside eatery, with charpoys and benches for seating, as well as plastic chairs and tables. In response to the families that frequent the place, the restaurant has designated several family rooms. The general dining area lacks fans, but the family rooms are equipped with them. The absence of flies in the family room, thanks to the high-speed fans, influenced our decision to dine there.

Previously, this restaurant was a favorite spot for me to grab dinner or lunch during my college days. However, the quality has greatly declined. The gravy tastes the same no matter what dish you order, and the cleanliness has noticeably worsened.

Chilika Dhaba is located at bank of lake chilika also nearby NH-5, serving the best prawn and crab curry in odisha ever I eat. So guys must try out.

We had heard and read a lot about Chilika Dhaba and that was the reason why we decided to try the food there, despite of being apprehensive about the hygiene of the place. However, there were many things that were totally frustrating. 1. The place to dine was not at all clean. Even by the standards of a dhaba, it can be much cleaner. There were so many flies....I couldn't really concentrate on the food.2. They did not give us a menu card, so we had to order on our own.3. And for the above reason we were served prawn curry which was like prawns in chicken butter masala gravy. There was no flavor of prawn.4. Finally, when we were handed the bill, it seemed a bit more for what we had ordered. But there was no means to check the price of the individual items. The quantity of the food was good however. I believe that a place which has so much fame needs to be much more organized and hygienic. It already has so much good publicity, the owner(s) should improve and make things better. Ironically, they are just using it to serve whatever and however they like.
