Went with the Reuben and the side of Mexican Fiesta soup, just because I was in the mood for something smokey and tangy. Buddy got the same except fries and gravy. Order was up in a decent amount of time. Pretty clear from the get go that this place cooks pretty much from scratch. Bowl of soup was quite large and filled to the brim. Rye bread of the sandwich popped with a swirl pattern on the face. My first reaction was that the sandwich did not seem to be piled too high...something I look for in my reuben. Buddy's plate was piled super high with fries and thick dark brown gravy (I was immediately jealous). Anyhow, the sandwich was decent enough with a flavourable corned beef. Sourkraut probably had the perfect amount allocated to the sandwich. I did find that there was way too much thousand isles sauce (so did buddy). The sauce oozed heavily out of the cut edge and sides of the sandwich, and eventually filtered through the top slide of rye bread. For this reason, eating was difficult and messy enough that I ate my sandwich with a fork and knife. Yes, a fork and knife. Most importantly was the flavour...which was very good! I'd tweak this sandwich to perfection with half as much sauce and one extra layer of corned beef. Book it! Soup was fairly zesty...I'd of liked a bit of heat, after all it was Mexican. Place was clean enough for a roadside diner. Fairly small seating area and food is good enough that you may want to get here early for lunch. Value was reasonable. With limited choices in small roadside community during the off season, I'd say its definitely worth a stop.
The restaurant is not fancy but they do have good food at a good price. The service is good and the food comes fast.
Found the food overpriced.... and served canned pop......... crowded seating . and decor is older .......... haven t had breakfast there so no idea how breakfast is............
Have stopped here a few times last time had the meat eaters pizza fresh and tasty I see they have a full roast turkey dinner on this week will have to take a run out there for sure just for that
It was getting late and we didn't want to wait to be seated, so we came to CJ's. We were passing through on a cross-country road trip. What a pleasant surprise! We sat right down, but we weren't the only diners, even though it was after the lunch hour. My husband had a burger and an order of poutine, while I had a Caesar chicken wrap. My wrap was huge and delicious! I saved half of it to have for dinner, as we knew we were staying at a place without a nearby restaurant. The poutine was really tasty and my husband really liked the burger, too, especially the bun. We were so glad we stopped here.
