I've been a loyal customer since they first opened, when they were situated on 7th Street and Maiden Lane, tucked behind a discount smoke and liquor shop in an old laundromat. They serve the most incredible cashew chicken I've ever had, and I’m willing to drive two hours just to enjoy it. I recommend this place to everyone who visits Joplin, and honestly, to everyone in general. Craving Chinese food? Head to Oriental Express. Go, eat, and fall in love with it. It's the best. Thank you for being such an amazing restaurant!
A friend suggested this place to me, and I must say, the service is excellent and friendly. The food is of restaurant quality, and the crab rangoon is the best I've ever tasted!
It's always a pleasure to visit with my family. We used to come here at least once every two weeks when I lived nearby eight years ago. The fried chicken is still as good as I remember—tasty, though a bit under-seasoned. The cashew sauce was extremely salty. I tried the Kung Pao for the first time, but the chilies weren’t fully cooked in the sauce, which lacked spice (the paprika was quite sharp). The vegetables felt underutilized, and there was significantly less protein compared to the fried chicken dishes. On the bright side, the crab rangoon is still top-notch! I felt compelled to write a review because this place holds a special spot in my heart, but I was a bit disappointed during this last visit. I’ll definitely return next time to try my usual orange chicken or general chicken.
We've been getting take out from here for years, always liked it. This is the second or third time it sucked, and I'm done! Chicken so dry and hard you can barely eat it. It's Monday and they aren't open on Sunday so I guess this is Saturdays leftover food. If I wanted Leftovers I would have raided the fridge at home! and it would have been better. I do not recommend this place.
Ordered the cashew chicken lunch and egg drop soup. Rice was undercooked, chicken was like jerky, sauce was thick as pudding, soup tasted like it was just chicken broth, crunchies for the soup we're stale, the Rangoon was as sweet as a dessert. The egg roll was nice at least. Don't think I'll be ordering ever again.
