West Henly Boil Shack - Johnson City

We returned to Austin and came across the West Henly Boil Shack, so we decided to stop for lunch. This place is fantastic! The atmosphere and staff are wonderful, and the food is delicious. I highly recommend stopping by the Shack if you’re in the area around mealtime.

The food is piping hot and freshly prepared. The Boudin Link was the best I've ever tasted on-site, bringing back memories of the authentic Louisiana Boudin. The shrimp were lightly battered, allowing their flavor to shine through, while the catfish was served with a cornbread batter that was simply delightful. The hush puppies had just a hint of spice, and the buttermilk cake was absolutely delicious. I can definitely see myself planning road trips to visit again soon!

The dining experience is fantastic, and the atmosphere is incredibly relaxing. You can enjoy a cigar and cold beers beneath the trees after indulging in some delicious food. The motorcycle ride to get there is beautiful as well. It's definitely a place that you must visit with family and friends.

Support local. This place is really cool, it's from Austin, thank God. You have an incredible menu, the red beans are on the point. Fried Pickles were excellent. Hush puppies had a Jalapeño bite. The atmosphere is really cool. They have limited seats, but they have fans and sisters.

2 1/2 stars this time. The place has a cajun setting and is a very nice restaurant. I have been here once before, several years ago, and enjoyed it that time. The staff are good and service was great. But my dinner was kinda blah . Very bland. I had the catfish, hush puppy 's, fries, and red beans rice on the side. The fish was overcooked and greasy. Hush puppy 's and beans rice had no flavor. The fries were good. I rarely go out to eat for dinner and this was a letdown this time.
