Tiefenthal Alm - Jerzens

We were travelling in the area with our kids in the beginning of July. I have read on tripadvisor about this place, it should have been very close to place we stay... We tried to get there ... but couldn't find it.... better location finder required

We came across Tiefenthal Alm while hiking in Pitztal. It is a restaurant for hikers, I'm not sure if you can get there by car. We hiked from St. Leonard but there are several routes you can take. When you get to Tiefenthal Alm a beautiful sight greets you. A brook runs down the mountain and where it gets flat is where the restaurant is situated. There the brook divides into several smaller streams and forms a pond in one place. The pond has a sandy beach for kids to play and the whole meadow seems geared towards children. There are also lawn chairs for grown ups. The restaurant is a typical tyrolian wooden house with a patio overlooking the meadow and the mountains framing it. We ate Kaiserschmarrn which was delicious and enough to feed two. The owner started playing his harmonica and everybody was encouraged to join in the singing. They had a booklet with lyrics on every table. It was quite special. They also have a few rooms to stay overnight. If only we still had younger kids we'd go back there next summer and stay the whole day or maybe two.
