We went there for lunch. They had so many vegan options available such as sandwiches, burgers, soups and salads. They also have about 15 different vegan cakes. And there is a vegan teatime.
Nice tea room, good vegan lattes and you can get scones with coconut cream if you order ahead (and black butter, which is actually a local type of apple butter, no dairy! . Was very busy on a rainy Saturday afternoon in June.
This is the only place in Jersey with an extensive Vegan selection on their menu. Hats off to them for making the effort, we certainly need more people to follow their lead over here we are still way behind in providing tasty meals for Vegans and Vegetarians here. I've had quite a few of the main meals on the menu, specials and the cakes. In general, the quality is okay. This is a tearoom after all, and not a restaurant, but I still find it quite pricey. We've had a few fails here pork sausages on a kids vegan plate, I've been given omni carrot cake instead of a vegan one, despite asking for vegan ice cream with it. And the response I got when I complained at the till was far from professional. We've also received a cow milk milkshake instead of a vegan one, which my tummy was far from happy with later on in the day. Again, a far from apologetic response. I've stopped having cakes from here now too, as the texture is not right. They are very heavy, there is lots of icing all over them. They look fantastic in their fridge, but don't meet expectations. My omni friends say the same about their cakes too.... Maybe you guys could do a few less selection wise, and do them really well? I victoria sponge doesn't need 5 layers, the balance of cake to icing is all wrong. about 50% of the time, the sweet potato chips aren't cooked enough in the middle, 98% of the time, the salad still has grit in it. I sometimes wonder if the staff have tasted their dishes before they send them out to the public... or maybe they think that because it's vegan, it doesn't need to taste good? On the up side... The tearoom is lovely, and I much prefer it after it's recent decoration. The service has improved sightly, and we have been forgotten about less than usual. I've had some really lovely meals there a shepards pie that was so tasty it left me wondering if it was covered in cow butter (still wondering! , the stews have always been lovely and the soups too. There is plenty of parking, and it is accessible for people in wheelchairs, with buggies, and dogs are welcome if they are well behaved.
While this is not a vegan cafe, it's so vegan friendly on account of one of the owners being in the v gang! We went here THREE times during our stay on the island. The burgers are amazing (the ultimate cheese burger is the best, but the avocado and cumin is also great! and we had afternoon tea too (which needs booking 24hrs in advance lovely sandwiches, cakes and scones with vegan cream! Talking of the cakes... OMG. So moist! The coffee and walnut and the carrot cake are divine. But there's an entire fridge full to choose from! Prepare to loosen your vegan waistband!
