Porta - Jersey City

Porta is a Neapolitan pizza restaurant located in Jersey City. I recently visited the location in Asbury Park and was excited to see that there was one in JC as well. I decided to check it out since I had a great experience at the Asbury Park location. Porta claims to be one of the best in the country, according to their website. Our bartender was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a pizza and a pasta dish, the same ones I had in Asbury Park, in order to make a fair comparison. However, this time around, the food was not as good as my previous experience. The pasta had too much sauce, almost soupy, and the pizza was lacking in flavor. The pasta dish we ordered was the Bootzin, which included orecchiette, San Marzano tomatoes, fennel sausage, cherry peppers, castelvetrano olives, Parmigiano Reggiano, basil, and fennel pollen. Our pizza was the seasonal Shrimp Scampi pizza, which is going away for the season. So, no need to worry about missing out on that one!

I can tell you one thing, I know a pizza is good, when I eat the crust. The pizza was absolutely delicious. I ordered the 14 1/2 and my friend ordered a vegan pie. We both devoured our pizzas to the end, including the crust! I also loved my cocktail, theFree Fallin’. Absolutely delicious! Only reason why I’m giving 4 stars is because although I felt for the 2 guys working therooftop alone, they did forget to put a drink in for me, and then it took a while to get the check. Other than that, we lovedit!

A very good place is Jersey city downtown to have good woodfire pizza and beer. The ambience and the vibe of the place is very nice and they provide rooftop seating as well. The menu is different in the rooftop seating as they do not serve pasta there. Weordered the cocktails here which were cheap and decent. Do visit.

Great spot!! Be fever on a Friday night without reservations and it wasn’t bad. We got in super fast or food to 15 to 20 minutes so it wasn’t bad. It was super crowded in there yet the server was super attentive to us. The mozzarella itself wasamazing and the drinks are great. We were barhopping, so we didn’t I grab more food, but everything looked and smelled greatin there. It’s also in the perfect location to go to surrounding bars nearby .

Local Pizza and Italian style eatery with a selection of drinks and drink specials. Partnered with the excellent Carton for a beer unique to the spot. Food is excellent. Beer menu (besides Carton and Kane) could use a bit more Craft and less macro brew,and the bar selection isn’t huge, but these are quibbles. Offers a rooftop option for seating.
