New Thanh Hoai in Jersey City brings the authentic flavors of Vietnam without the need for a long flight. The service was friendly and our summer rolls came quickly, filled with fresh shrimp and crunchy lettuce wrapped in rice paper. The beef noodle soup was tasty, but could have been hotter and was missing basil and bean sprouts. The grilled pork chop with vegetables on white rice was well-balanced. The dining room had high ceilings, making for a pleasant atmosphere. The time limit for customers may be a drawback for some, but adds a potential escape route for bad dates. While the food may not be the best value, the cleanliness and comfort of the restaurant make it a decent option for those craving Vietnamese cuisine. Overall, if you're in the mood for Vietnamese food, New Thanh Hoai is a solid choice.
The portion size is generous and the food is very authentic! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
I had the grilled pork chops over fried rice and shrimp summer rolls. The summer rolls were decent, but the real standout were the black jerseys. They were hands down the best pork chops I've ever had.
I used to love Thanh Hoai but the new management has disappointed me. I have been a loyal customer for years, but lately the food quality, customer service, and pricing have all taken a hit. The grilled chicken and rice used to be reasonably priced at $8.95, but now it's $13.95 without any notice. The portions are smaller and the quality of the food has gone downhill. The spring rolls are now oily and taste like old frying oil. I am disappointed with the recent changes and will not be returning.
