Indian. Supper Club. Tasty food and good conversation with strangers! You buy tickets online in advance, which are $45 plus a 15% gratuity in advance, for a total of $51.75 each. Our party of five was seated at a communal table with another party of three. We eventually ended up partially joining conversations, but I have mixed feelings about the communal dining format in general, but the more outgoing folks in our party enjoyed it! We had a great time, starting our drinks with individual gin and tonics and then moving to a bottle of wine for a few of us. The food was delicious and very abundant. There was a lot left over on the table after all of courses, which I hope was eaten later by staff. Otherwise it's a lot of waste. Food included samosas with four different sauces including an amazing eggplant dish; roasted seasonal fall vegetables with a yogurt sauce; rice and sautéed greens; chicken kofta meatballs in a tomato curry sauce; Kheer rice pudding with hot spiced chai tea. The chef and staff were friendly and interacted with us while serving. Overall, we had a great dinner and met some interesting folks at our table. A great experience and fairly affordable compared to other supper club type experiences.
Unbelievable attention to detail, and an inventive PNW take on traditional Indian dishes. $45 per person for 6 courses and the owner/chef ready and willing to talk you through it..?! Sign me up!
I was there with Sophie.S and can reinforce her statements. Rather than rehash the blow by blow, let me just say that every dish seemed to have been tasted and the seasoning adjusted to a very fine point, where no two ingredients were in conflict, and the whole was far greater than the sum of the parts. The entire tasting menu was a pretension-free zone, and it was a pleasure to see an accomplished and informed cook doing his thing in this intimate arena. A truly entertaining and nourishing experience; when you add up what it would cost you to put together four far more mundane courses in many Portland restaurants, the price is quite reasonable, and drink prices were mainstream and not nosebleed.
