Whistle Stop Pub - Jasper

This is a locals pub but it is a great place if you just want to drink and people watch. The food is basic but very good.

Friendly staff as they are all over Canada, but totally let down by the food. Re-heated fries and possibly twice deep fried fish. The batter was so thick and the fish tasteless and old! Burger was edible but only because we were so hungry. Food was at the table under 10 minutes from ordering, so definitely not cooked to order!

Service was good. Food less than average. I realise prices will be high in a tourist area but was dissapointed overall.

We stopped in after a hike around the five lakes. They have a good menu covering hamburgers and sandwiches. We ordered hamburgers and they were excellent. My husband ordered a wonderful beer. I had a Cabernet wine. It was good but even I liked the beer. It is more of a bar setting than a restaurant so it wouldn't be good for kids. We learned that there is such a thing as Canadian football. It was fun to watch while we waited for dinner. Service was good.
