The 'cafe' is a counter inside a souvenir shop, usual items, mostly made overseas, for sale. There is seating outside in sun or shade and the flower baskets make for a pretty site. You can also access the café on the 'wet side' by going into the hot pool where a seating area and access to the counter exist. Some food and baked goods on offer as well. Reasonable prices for a tourist area.
The food was served hot, and had good value for money. The food there was served good, and was made even better after the visit from the hot springs. The service provided was also good.
Sorry for the delay in writing this review but I kept this cafe's card all these months just because I was so impressed by them. In September, we stopped by after a long hike. This is a small café with views of the hot spring pools. It's just a tiny place with a few tables and souvenirs to purchase so I wasn't expecting much. However, I was completely blown away by the EXCELLENT hot panini sandwich they served (and ice cream desert). That sandwich was the best food I ate during our whole Banff vacation. They also offered very thoughtful, personable service--I wanted a meatless sandwich and they suggested a custom version for me. Very fresh, homemade ingredients, generous portions for the price, and a very cozy and homey atmosphere. The fact I remember this after so many months--plus given the awe-inspiring natural wonders of Banff/Jasper--should tell you something about what a memorable little place this was. Thank you, Fiddle Valley Café!
You might think that since this is the only place to have a drink or bite to eat at the springs it might be mediocre quality and overpriced. Not true! Loved the chili, loved the service, loved the attitude of everyone there. If you go for a soak at Miette, this is the place to relax after you've relaxed!
My boyfriend and I had lunch here after relaxing in the hot spring. It was the perfect fix for a couple of weary travelers. Our cashier/barista/server was so helpful and friendly, and the food and drinks were phenomenal, especially that hearty vegetable soup! I would recommend this cafe even if you aren't going to the hot spring - simply delicious!
