When I received my meal, it had cheese on the top. I expressed my dissapointment, stating that it didn't say this in the menu. The waitress simply responded "all our enchiladas have cheese" (again, not something noted in the menu, and not something inherent to enchiladas, which by nature are simply stuffed corn tortillias). When I said I could not have cheese, she only offered me a plate to scrape it off on, with no further concern. When I was noticeably upset my Christmas dinner was ruined, she offered to replace the one in the middle that had the most cheese on it (I declined as my partner was already half done his meal at this point). I learned a valuable lesson to state my food restrictions clearly at the beginning of a meal in the future, but do believe the restaurant should state any dairy included in a meal, and that the waitress should have done more to accomodate.
We were seated and given menus, but unfortunately that was as far as we got. Other people who came in after us were waited on before us. After waiting for our waiter for 15 minutes, we decided we had enough and left. We expressed our disappointment to the woman who seated us. It had been a long day and we just wanted a quick dinner before heading back to our hotel. Unfortunately, Anthony's was not delivering that night at that time, so we ended up going to Jasper Pizza instead.
My experience at the Amethyst restaurant was a bit disappointing. I ordered the "surf and turf" dinner special and was not impressed with the overcooked shrimp, chewy calamari ring, and strange, gooey deep-fried octopus or squid tentacle on the "surf" side of the dish. However, the turf side of the dish was delicious, and the soup and dessert were also enjoyable. My husband loved the eggplant parmesan. I agree with the previous reviewer that the breakfast buffet was not great - for $14, I expected better than liquid scrambled eggs, crispy pancakes, dry cereal (with no milk), and burnt bacon. Unfortunately, the food just didn't taste good. The staff, on the other hand, were fantastic - very polite and the only reason I gave the restaurant an average rating.
We had supper here !! food was good ... service a little slower than i would have liked, but we would go back.
Limited unoriginal breakfast menu, with pancakes being made from a mix. We all ordered the bacon and egg breakfast, thinking its hard to botch that, but they did. Bacon and sausages were under cooked, eggs and potatoes were greasy. I guess the toast was fine. There are a lot of choices in Jasper. I would skip this place.
