I was initially disappointed that the tasting plate included fish, chicken, and pork, but I realized that the focus was more on highlighting local ingredients rather than ethical considerations. The desserts were particularly intriguing, featuring unique, healthy, and vegan options. I would definitely return just to try more of them! The staff was friendly, and the restaurant was cozy and spacious, a welcome change after a tiring day of walking. It felt like a special treat compared to the cramped eateries in Tokyo. I also appreciated the cute Niigata produce stickers given out at the register.
Located on the 2nd floor of the Blackboard shopping plaza in Niigata, Grill and Vegetable Farm Table Suzu is a delightful dining experience. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, ensuring that our dietary needs were met by consulting with the chef. The food was delicious, with a focus on simply prepared, fresh vegetables that may vary seasonally. We enjoyed some new and interesting flavors, all beautifully presented. The chef clearly has a creative flair and a desire to please customers, as demonstrated by the different presentation of dishes on our second visit. The restaurant's philosophy of 'Think Local, Taste Local and Feel Local' shines through in both the menu and the experience. With operating hours from 11:00 to 22:00 (last order at 21:00), Grill and Vegetable Farm Table Suzu is a must-visit in Niigata. I was quite sad that the tasting plate set had fish, huh and even black, but I understand that the concept was more about the representation of the closeness than about moral. the desserts were super interesting, with very unusual, nutritious (and vegan ingredients). I would definitely go back to try a few more of them! the staff was super nice, and the place was cozy and spacious after a very long day too much to foot, in contrast to all the tiny holes in the wall in tokio it felt like a tasty for me. the cute niigata produce stickers can also make them a charming detail with their change in register.
