After being away for four years, savoring this sandwich felt even more special. While it is a bit pricey for its size, the quality ingredients make it well worth it, and the flavor is fantastic. You can order them freshly made or check out the fridge in the back for pre-made options. They even offer a discount for pre-made sandwiches that are a day old. The convenience store always had something unique to try as well, and I really appreciated the community bulletin board when I was a local. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich and the nostalgic stroll down memory lane.
I feel incredibly lucky to have City Feed just a block away from my home. While its selection isn't extensive, it covers all the essentials! A significant advantage is that everything is locally sourced and often organic. Beyond being a corner store, it also serves as a cozy coffee shop and deli. How perfect is that? Last night, I stopped by and picked up a delicious chai latte and scone on my way home. It's so convenient and community-focused; I definitely plan to return soon to try one of their sandwiches!
I consistently experience slow service when ordering sandwiches here, which has been an issue since before the pandemic, although I’m sure they would like to blame it on that. After waiting over 15 minutes with no other customers in the store when I placed my order, I inquired about the status of my food. I was told it would be another 5 minutes. After waiting an additional 10 minutes and seeing other customers who came in after me receiving their orders, I asked them to check on mine. The staff informed me that the only option was to refund my money, explaining that there are "hot" and "cold" queues. When I mentioned I was in the cold queue, they simply shrugged it off. I then got in line to request my refund, and, surprise, my order finally came out. There were no apologies or explanations. This isn’t surprising, though. I won’t be returning. If you do decide to try this place, my suggestion is to pre-order by phone and keep your fingers crossed.
City Feed is somehow synonymous with JP. The space on Centre street is fairly large for a small grocery like store, and well stocked. That said, expect to pay a fairly high premium on your organically raised, locally sourced, hand crafted everything. Think of the prices less like going to a grocery store and more like a year round farmer 's market. Groceries aside, most of my money at City Feed goes to their beverages (shout out to my absolute favorite, the Kick in the Face and to their sandwiches (proscuitto sandwich, you know I love you the most . Tip: If you 're hoping to get a bunch of sandwiches, call ahead and avoid the wait! Pro tip: Make sure you call the correct City Feed the one on Centre is the main one, the one on Boylston (aka Little Feed is the offshoot. Both have excellent sandwiches and beverages.
I felt very comfortable buying individually wrapped bagels until today when bagels were picked up with tissue and dropped in a small brown paper bag as pre-covid 19. We can't forgot cashier is handling money back and forth and handing the small brown paper bags back to the customers. Food that can't be cooked or that you can't peel should be individually wrapped to avoid contamination.
