I got the chicken salad sandwich from the 'lunch menu ' posted came with homemade potato salad. Everything taste so good....was a little shocked when I was told the total was $9 so you can not use the pricing from the posted menu. Wish they would update the menu with the correct pricing. But food was very good.
Excellent value and taste. Our company recently moved downtown and i have been exploring the different cafe's and sandwich shops. I stumbled upon Desert Rider and i was thoroughly impressed. It appears they have been in downtown Jacksonville for more than 40 years, and it easy to see why. I chose the hot ham and cheese, but opted out of the honey mustard dressing. I just had them add lettuce and tomato and i was good to go. i got potato salad as a side and it was excellent. The pita was stuffed full of ham and it was heated just right. I say if you havent tried the Desert Rider then give it a shot and while you are in there look at the old photos of downtown Jacksonville.
Desert Rider. Man, this can this be the same sandwich shop as the 70 's just across the street from Barnett Banks (probably not that name now) and the Atlantic Bank Sandwich shop? I lived there in 1973 1974 and they had the best pita sandwiches loved the one called 'THE DESERT RIDER ' as best I remember it had something like salami, lettuce and these little chip things and a great oil vinegar type dressing. M M M. Over the last 40 years, I have dreampt of those sandwiches often. They were soooooooooooooooooooooo good. When your food is good, you last a long, long time. I have not found another sandwich shop that had this sandwich. Branch out and open a shop in Nashville, TN
Superdog a cookie or a cookie and a Superdog. Either way it is as close to heaven as you can get.
