It presented well, but the charcuterie board was underwhelming for the price, except the crispy bread. Lamb was a bittough. I know it?s a difficult meat to cook and it?s not uncommon for this to be slightly over cooked. When a chef gets itright, chefs kiss*. Gnocchi was okay too. Expensive for what it was. But!!! Dipping these in the sauce from the lamb, wasabsolutely exquisitely divine. This combo had me dying, it was so good. Overall, worth the visit. And the menu changesseasonally, so better options coming up perhaps.
Don't be misled into thinking this is just an outdoor restaurant... Get there early and take the time to enjoy the outdoor farm/park land! Had I known before, I might have picked up some wine and picnicked there before our reservation. The $5 chargefor access to the farm/park grounds is worth it only if you have some time to spare, especially seeing that there are chairs andtables to relax at. The flight of local ciders was delicious and the food was a sophisticated change from the usual. I don'tknow that the menu is ideal for young kids, so keep that in mind, since it's not what I'd call a low cost dinner.
Our group of ten had a fantastic time, even with the rain! The covered outdoor setting was very relaxing. The food we ordered was incredible, while our server was just alright. We were too full for dessert, but the options looked tempting! The sunset cruise was a blast! We even got to make stops along the way to take photos. I recommend bringing bug spray, although the bugs weren't too bothersome. Overall, I would highly recommend Congaree Penn for a fun night out!
One of my favorite places to escape to when I need a break from the city is Congaree Penn. The dining experience there is outstanding, and the farm and surrounding scenery are absolutely beautiful! It's always worth the trip. Be sure to take a stroll around before or after your meal. They offered guided flower picking during the summer, which was an amazing experience. I can't wait for the wildflower fields to start blooming!
We had a wonderful date night! Before dinner, we strolled through the farm with our drinks (beer and cider), enjoying the peaceful and beautiful scenery. The ciders were fantastic—with a great selection made in-house. Dinner was incredible! For appetizers, we shared the hummus plate and cornbread. My husband ordered shrimp and grits, while I had the Black Eyed Pea Tempe. I highly recommend this place; it was an amazing experience!
