Rhl Ranch - Jacksboro

While trying to find another site, we encountered a donkey that wandered over to us, which was amusing, but it added to the chaos. Eventually, the woman at the front desk came to help move the truck, which was a nice gesture. However, the surrounding area had RVs that looked like they should be condemned; one had peeling paint and appeared quite old, with some unpleasant odors lingering nearby. This was a recurring issue throughout the park. Since we were just staying for one night and didn't want to separate, we decided to look for another location. I called again to inform them of our new spot, but there was no answer, and I left a message that was never returned. Overall, the park seems to be in need of maintenance, with scattered debris behind the rows of RVs and a general lack of upkeep.

There are some wildlife that wander freely around the campsite, which we didn’t mind since we brought corn and carrots to feed them. Fishing can be a fun activity for kids. However, I was disappointed by how close the camping spots are to each other; there wasn’t even enough space for a picnic table on our site. There are a few sites here that can accommodate a camper, but that’s about it. The fire pit behind our camper was in poor condition, filled with debris. Being on a hillside didn’t offer any real benefits. There may be some lovely hiking trails, but without a map, I was hesitant to explore on my own. The rain also flooded all the paths, making hiking impossible anyway. I took a stroll along the dam and fed the baby, but otherwise, we stayed in our RV. While younger children may enjoy the area more, the cramped quarters were a downside for us.

Fantastic park! It's perfect for families, with plenty of trees and a lovely lake. The animals in the park are a delightful addition. Dru and Jim are outstanding hosts! You definitely need to visit! We’ll be returning!

Beautiful place to stay. Beautiful campsite with fantastic wildlife. The managers are great people. They take care of you as if you were family. Would like to go back and stay longer. If you get the chance to visit this beautiful campsite.

This is not a resort but rather a place for enjoying the natural beauty and quiet. The animals are a bonus as they wander around. The lake is picturesque although there were no animals or birds when I walked there. We were overnighting and will look for an opportunity to make it a destination several days out of Dallas.
