Texas Best Smokehouse #1 - Italy

The guys behind the counter gave me turkey telling me it was pulled pork omg no slow service only one guy working took 20 mins get two sandwhiches omg

Perhaps unsurprisingly, but also contrary to numerous billboards' claims, this is not the best smokehouse in Texas. But that's okay. This is one of nine locations. It is actually a glorified Shall station, and you'll find both a Sonic and Texas Best Smokehouse inside. We arrived a little before the lunch rush hour (1145pm), which was good because later there was a sizeable line. The employees um... are not particularly concerned with expediency. I would describe their affect as lackadaisical. But then the old guy in front of us was harassing the employee to chop off the fat layer off all the slices so... Their menu isn't terribly extensive but the flavor is good. Pricing is midrange. Quantity is acceptable. There are tables to sit and eat at inside where it's nice and cool. There's soda options available, or if you buy from the mini mart there's coffee/ICEEs/etc. Lots of Knick knacks at this location too shirts, hats, keychains, socks, plushies, wall art, jewelry, and more. Nice bathrooms. Good air flow, thematically western. Only the towel dispenser is touchless though. Gas prices are equivalent to the Love's across the street.

This place is in a gas station. The service is way too slow, mind you, your ordering while they put your meal together. Ordered the barrel and got a loaded barrel which was twice as much. Wanted sweet tea, they did not have any.... Let me repeat, they did not have any sweet tea. . So got a coke instead but all that came out was carbonated water. Sigh...was forced to get something else. Would have given a rate of 2 but their sausage links and ribs, along with their peach cobbler was good.

Meat had a good flavor just needed a little more sauce and the garlic butter sauteed mushrooms were pretty tasty.

Impromptu stop-in and glad I did. Live music at the door. Huge portion of pulled pork and sliced beef. The beef was excellent! Dined in decent atmosphere. Friendly servers. Corn as side was okay. Potato salad good. Pretty good stuff for a gas station.
