Pizza Express - Islington

Hello, I would like to express my gratitude to Emanuel for patiently attending to our table of 19 people, which included 12 children. Despite being the only waiter on duty, he did his best to serve us as the restaurant got busier. We had made a booking online, but upon arrival, there was no record of it. The lady seemed stressed and made us feel a bit uneasy, which has happened a few times before. However, Emanuel has served us on previous occasions and always made us feel welcome.

The food was absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be returning for lunch again!

I have been frequenting this location for around four years now, and the servers who have been consistently working there have always been wonderful. Emad, Connie, and Selam are just a few of the exceptional wait staff members. I enjoy chatting with them as much as I enjoy eating the delicious food. The variety of vegan options they offer is also impressive.

Arrived at 5 pm. Waiting for the kids. Ordered wine and some olives. Bit weird that I had to start swatting flies. Asked the waitress who said and I quote “yes other people have complained”. She stated she would ask the manager. After an hour of using the menus to swat flies and no sign of the manager I asked the waitress again. She pointed out the manager and I asked him what are you doing about this? “I’ve logged the problem” was his response. No apology no “ I’m sorry” just an attitude of “not my problem. Naively I suggested a quick visit to the local Tesco , all of 50m away to buy some fly spray or something the response was “I’m not allowed to do that”. Food so so but overpriced. Waitress lovely but working for a manager who’s purpose was ?????

Well this was a refreshing treat. Popped into Pizza Express (Upper Street) and I felt I should make use of the offers sent to me via the Pizza Express App. Truth is, I had a feeling that would happen... he he. We were welcomed in (lady friend and I) an immediately I noticed we noticed a warm and friendly environment. We sat at our table, free to choose and I got to work on the whole link the app to the table, place your order on the app, apply rewards to the order, stand up and touch your toes, spin around 3 time, do a little dance, sit back down and hope and pray. I ordered the Classic Pizza La Reine and my Lady Friend ordered the Classic Pizza Fiorentina. We also ordered the Bruschetta Originale and Garlic Dough Balls for a starters, and Raw Slaw as a side. The Garlic Dough Balls were as expected, fresh backed, gorgeously melt in your mouth texture. The Bruschetta Originale was good, however the base was more or less a large oval shaped Dough Ball, half flattened. It started to feel all a bit too doughy, but it was fine in the end. The pizzas were actually quite good. I was surprised by this. The last time I visited Pizza Express was about 10 years ago. I was never too moved by the pizzas at the time. My Classic Pizza La Reine (without Ham) was pretty good. The quantity and ratio of mushroom to olives was spot on and baked to perfection. My lady friend reported similar of the Fiorentina. The icing on the evening had to be our designated waiter who was just fabulous all evening. It felt like if I had asked for a Lamborghini, he would have simply replied.. Be right with you Sir This guy was fine dining, seriously. I made sure to let him know as well, and typically he just remained humble with a shy 'thank you ' and proceeded to tend to our empty water glasses. Top notch geezer!!! Definitely recommend this Pizzerie!!!
